Evolution of Internet Technologies From Web 1 to Web 3

Welcome back to week 6 of my blogs, this week I am going to discussion the Evolution of Internet Technologies: From Web 1.0 to Web 3.0 and its main changes.

Web 1.0

Web 1.0 is known as the ‘static web’ as it only contained static images and pages that were only informative with little human interaction. Web 1.0 was used between late 1980s to early 2000s. Also, at this time there was little user generated content or targeted advertising. The advertising used was banner advertising which was displayed around the outside of the information. I understand now why this is now used very often now as this form on advertising in my opinion is harder to get people's attention that using pop up advertising.

Web 2.0

Web 2.0 was used during the early 2000’s to present it was the move from the ‘static web’ to more user generated content. Web 2.0 was used in the production of social media, more interaction with user and collaboration. Some websites used in this transition that me and you still use today include creating Facebook, Google Docs, YouTube and many more. As user generated content is used advertisements on Web 2.0 are more targeted.

Web 3.0

Web 3.0 is only new as it was established in late 2010’s. It allows for more intelligence and personalised web experience due to creation of Artificial Intelligence. Web 3.0 also introduced crypto currency which has evolved online banking rapidly.

I my opinion web 3.0 has made the biggest change compared to the introduction of web 2.0.

Below is a link to a short video explain the difference of the three web types:

See you next week,

Molly.
