SaaS ERP for SMEs
Hello and welcome to week 4 of my 8 weeks of blogs. This week I am going to be discussing SaaS ERP for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). I hope you will enjoy it and hopefully can learn something new along the way.
Due to size and revenue available to them, SMEs are unable to compete with global businesses. However, as SaaS ERP is available to companies of any size it allows SMEs to maximise their operations. SaaS ERP is an enterprise resource planning system that is operated in the date centre owned by the ERP provider rather than in the location of the SME. Improved communication and collaboration within SMEs is done through ERP SaaS as it allows them to access and share data across different departments. Once the data is entered from one process it is available to be used in any other process in the ERP.
Uses for SaaS ERP:
- Finance and accounting department: used to keep records of cash in hand, customer credit etc.
- Human resources department: used to keep track of employees' hours worked.
- Sales department: used to keep track of orders and price changes.
Advantages:
- As businesses grow there is no need to invest in larger servers as it is not operated on their site.
- Due to operators being able to upgrade systems, it allows businesses to have up to date systems more efficiently.
Disadvantages:
- Due to SaaS ERP being operated from the provider's location it has very little options to customisation to different businesses unique needs.
- Due to the monthly subscription this will add up to be a large cost for businesses over time.
I hope you enjoyed this blog. I do realise this blog contains a lot more concentration to reads as it contains a lot more facts than my other blogs.
See you next week,
Molly.
